Everything in view with a digital eye

KRONE equips its machines with cutting-edge camera technology: A new generation of digital cameras with outstanding image technology now ensures even better control of work processes.

Spelle, August 2025: Through the targeted use of digital camera technology, KRONE equips its machines with high-resolution camera systems. The new digital camera generation provides a better overview, safety and convenience for daily tasks. An array of machines, including mowers, rakes, transport technology, big balers, round balers and pelleting presses, will be converted to digital cameras with immediate effect.

Technology that is impressive under all conditions

The new digital cameras are based on the latest generation of automotive-qualified image processors and provide high-resolution images. The image quality remains consistently high even under difficult ambient conditions, like dusk, sunlight, mud or rain. This is ensured by automatic functions, such as white balance, contrast optimisation and exposure control, which adjust the camera image in real time. With a 120-degree horizontal field of vision, the cameras offer an excellent all round view. They are completely dust tight and can be cleaned with high-pressure cleaners in accordance with IP rating IP6K9K and are suitable for extreme operating conditions. The robust housing protects the electronics from external influences. Additionally, the camera is equipped with a scratch-resistant, water-repellent and UV-resistant lens as well as an active lens heater that prevents the lens from fogging up in humid conditions. The operating range extends from minus 40°C to plus 85°C, which enables reliable operation in all weather conditions.

Flexible display on CCI terminal or monitor

The digital cameras are connected via a Fast Ethernet interface and can be flexibly connected to the CCI terminals or a separate monitor. Up to seven digital cameras can be connected to both the CCI 800 and the CCI 1200 terminal. The camera images are displayed in parallel with the machine operation, allowing drivers to maintain a simultaneous overview of the machine and the ambient conditions. From hardware version 2.0 and higher, the CCI 1200 enables the concurrent display of two camera images, for example as a maxiview and miniview combination. With the CCI 800, only one camera image can be displayed at a time. As an alternative to the CCI terminals, the 7" touch-screen monitor offers a convenient method of using digital camera systems on all KRONE machines. Up to four camera images can be displayed simultaneously via a split screen – this ensures an optimum overview, greater safety and precise control during the entire work process.

Real-life example: Combination baler and wrapper

A prime application example is the equipment of the KRONE combination baler and wrapper. A camera in the bale chamber enables the tying cycle to be monitored. As soon as the bale is transferred to the wrapping table, the CCI terminal automatically switches to the camera installed there, which then shows a live image of the wrapping process. If there is a camera at the rear of the machine, a separate camera window is automatically displayed on the CCI terminal when a backing-up signal is received via ISOBUS, thereby ensuring even greater safety when manoeuvring.

Future-proof equipment for modern agriculture

With the increased use of digital camera systems, KRONE is underpinning its claim to provide innovative and practical technologies that optimise work processes, increase safety and support drivers in every situation.
