Baling and wrapping at the highest level
CombiPack HDP
KRONE presents a completely re-designed round baler with a unique 41-blade cutting unit and fully variable bale chamber, to be used as a combination baler and wrapper.
Spelle, September 2025: KRONE is setting new standards in terms of density, throughput, cutting lengths and maintenance with the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC. The combination machine with integrated wrapping device produces very solid and dimensionally stable bales with variable diameters of 100 to 165 cm. Equipped with a cutting unit and a fully variable bale chamber with mono-belt, the machine can achieve extremely high bale densities and an increased throughput of more than 30%. The baling element and rotor are driven using the KRONE PowerDrive concept, which for the first time relies on a gearbox without any chains, thus reducing maintenance costs considerably. In a nutshell: an extremely efficient round baler for professional use.
Extremely short cut – perfect for silage
The proved-and-tested EasyFlow pick-up with a working width of 2.23 m and 5 rows of tines reliably picks up even large swaths. As a unique feature, these round balers have an integrated hydraulic drive that is well protected in the pick-up. In dependence on the type of crops, the baling speed can be adjusted to the driving speed, ensuring clean forage intake.
Following the material pick-up, the crops are transferred to the massive integral rotor. The large augers integrated on the sides convey the material to the centre. Thanks to the large diameter, the crops are safely pulled through the cutting unit. 41 blades are installed as standard, providing a theoretical cutting length of 27 mm – no other round baler has managed this to date. With this extremely short cut, the CombiPack HDP is setting new standards in terms of cutting quality.
The number of blades can conveniently be pre-selected on the machine and then switched from the tractor seat or keypad directly on the machine. The blades are protected individually against foreign objects. Another highlight: For cleaning and blade changing, the blade cassette can conveniently be pulled out towards the left-hand side of the machine.
Bale chamber and drive
Other special features of the CombiPack HDP machines are the bale chamber and drive concept. Here, the combination of mono-belt and triple drive provides for perfect bale rotation, also under difficult harvesting conditions. Potential rolling losses are reduced to a minimum, even with short cutting lengths. The regulation of the baling pressure including the soft core setting is conveniently made from the tractor cabin.
The KRONE PowerDrive concept focuses on easy maintenance and minimal wear. This is achieved by means of gearboxes: From the main gearbox, which is installed at the front of the machine, the power is transmitted directly to the cutting rotor via a distributor block gearbox installed at the side, thus ensuring a maximum throughput. The three drive rollers are driven via one gearbox. Only the drive for the compression rollers still requires a chain, thus significantly reducing the maintenance costs.
Double wrapping unit with exemplary user comfort
The CombiPack HDP is equipped with a double twine tying system as standard, which can process net and peripheral film. The double wrapping unit is simply swivelled forwards to change the rolls, which can be done effortlessly with the aid of a swivelling chute. A particularly practical solution that allows the driver to change between tying types without having to leave the cabin. This significantly reduces the standstill times.
Fast wrapping – convenient changing
Instead of the usual tailgate, the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC only has one rocker arm that opens behind the bale chamber. For quick bale transfer, the wrapping table swings forward. A lifter then conveys the bale safely onto the wrapping table. The entire process is completed in six seconds only – a speed usually achieved by solo machines only.
A power baler wraps bales at up to 40 rpm, ensuring premium throughputs. When the film rolls need to be changed, they can be conveniently and ergonomically removed from the hydraulically lowerable roll holder for reservoir rolls at a convenient height, while the side guards also open automatically. Even with 30.5” tyres, removing the net and film rolls is easy.
User-friendly and low-maintenance
In terms of operation, the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC also does not leave any wishes unfulfilled. In addition to operation via the tractor terminal, various KRONE operating terminals can be used. The machine also offers convenient data management including order processing.
Thanks to the automatic central lubrication unit, which is installed as a standard, the CombiPack HDP requires very little maintenance. The new drive concept with gearboxes means it is no longer necessary to lubricate the chain with oil.
The running gear of the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC ensures maximum driving comfort on the road and in the field. Its single axle is equipped with a compressed air brake and wide 650/65 R 26.5” tyres as a standard to ensure maximum sward protection. Other tyre options are available for wheels of up to 30.5 inches, which are particularly suitable for slopes.
Conclusion: With the new CombiPack HDP, KRONE is introducing an extremely powerful and versatile round baler to the market, an absolute premium-level product in terms of throughput and bale density, attributable not least to its excellent cutting, baling, and wrapping technology. This makes the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC a truly professional machine for use with all types of silages and dry crops.
