Solid Savings with High Density Balers

Taken from Hay and Forage Grower

High density balers are designed to improve efficiency and reduce the hauling and storing costs associated with hay production. Krone’s 1290 HDP is able to reduce these costs by increasing the bales density by 25%. It does this by putting the weight of a 4x4 bale in 3x4 package. Many consumers are already reaping the savings of this baler.

Chris Horton of Monmouth, OR says, “overall, I am probably getting a couple tons more per load than I was getting with the three ties.” By increasing the weight of each truckload he is able to reduce his hauling expenses.

High density bales reduce custom harvester Joel Rohde’s storage needs by 20%. “Basically, in my operation I can eliminate one entire barn payment,” explains Rohde.

In exporting operations, such as Agritrade, LLC, high density balers eliminate the step of recompressing the bales. This allows the export containers to be loaded directly in the field and take to the port for shipment.
