The BiG M 400 is the newest machine in Krone’s line of self propelled mower conditioners. First introduced in 2008, this hard
working machine boasts 400 horsepower and is efficient enough to replace up to 2.5 conventional windrowers. It can travel up to 25 mph on the road and cut up to 40 acres an hour. The BiG M 400 does not
only save time, but it also saves money. Fuel consumption is reduced up to 60% when compared to a conventional windrower, and labor costs are slashed due to a reduced number of operators required to get the
job done.
This BiG M allows for options when laying windrows. It can lay one large swath down the middle, lay three smaller rows, or the
mergers can be removed to lay the crop flat. All three cutterbars are SafeCut with shear hub protection. Shear hub protection allows the hub to spin up and out of the way if a disc comes in contact
with a foreign object, resulting in minimal damage. The operators comfort has also been taken into consideration. That is why the BiG M 400 is equipped with a command vision cab and front axle suspension.
Hear what BiG M operators are saying about their machines:
“With the BiG M we are able to cut our fuel consumption, not to mention the labor savings involved by replacing two smaller machines
with one larger unit. Also, due to the fact that the BiG M merges the whole crop into one windrow, we save on the tractor, rake, and operator that we used to have to merge the crop.” Jared Fragoso of
Dias & Fragoso Custom Silage based out of Hanford, California.
